2020 Christmas Party in the Park
We had an absolutely lovely afternoon in Gilman Park celebrating our garden club.. It could not have been more wonderful. We didn’t talk about garden club much but we had a great time. You all should have been there. We hope all of you are healthy and happy and things are going well for you. We miss you. Hope to see all in January or sooner.

Fall Plant Sales in October
When the Rock Shrimp Festival was cancelled, we returned to Orange Hall in October for two more open air plant sales. Featured plants were White Butterfly Ginger Lilly, the Whorled Milkweed, and Sensational Succulents in Containers. The sale was set up to encourage social distancing and the use of masks.
We had over 30 varieties of plants for sun, shade, house or deck, including many native plants that attract pollinators. The featured Whorled Milkweed is the host plant for Monarch butterflies, and they will only lay their eggs on milkweed. The White Butterly Ginger Lily is a historic favorite in St Marys and known for its beautiful fragrance. Sam & Emma Bealey lived on Conyers Street where Miss Emma’s cottage is currently located. She had a large flower garden, including the white butterfly ginger which perfumed the whole neighborhood when they bloomed in early Fall. This is a must-have for any St. Marys gardener!
Also available for purchase were the St. Marys Garden Club first-edition cookbook, “Seasons of St. Marys”, which includes the history of St. Marys, pictures, seasonal planting tips and more. The 200-plus recipes are a collection from our members, community leaders and local restaurants.

July 14, Judy's Bastille Day Garden Tour
Judy invited us to a celebration of Bastille Day with a tour of her garden. Her garden looked exceptionally good because of all the extra time for weeding and upkeep due to the virus. Around a dozen members attended the outdoor event and enjoyed visiting with one another while social distancing. Her garden was amazing! She combined a list to share of the hundreds of plants in her garden.
Early Bird Plant Sale in July
St. Marys Garden Club hosted it's first ever “Early Bird Plant Sale” in July. The plant sale was located on the Orange Hall Lawn, Conyers Street entrance. It was set up to encourage social distancing and the use of masks. Everything worked out perfectly, weather, location, customers and all garden club members who helped one way or another.
This year's featured plant was the White Butterfly Ginger Lilly. Also featured were Butterfly milkweed and the whorled milkweed. All plants were grown by our garden club members and were healthy and beautiful. They went like hot cakes.
