Gardening Around Town
St Marys Garden Club works from time to time at several gardens around town. We maintain a flower bed at the First Presbyterian Church, and occasionally work at Our Lady Star of the Sea Historic Chapel's garden which our club renovated in 2007 and again in 2021, as well as Christ Episcopal Church. We have also had occasional work days at places around the town. We designed and planted flower beds in cooperation with the city at the waterfront pavilion. Unfortunately, Hurricane Irma in 2017 destroyed all the plants. We also hold occasional work days for places that need attention around town. We have participated in assisting in landscape several Habitat for Humanity houses over the years.
April 4, 2024 Planting at the Senior Care Center in St Marys on Dilworth Street
With the contribution of flowers from Lowes, several members got together to spruce up the front of the Senior Care Center. Residents watched on as the flowers were added. Thanks to Barbara Ashburn who spearheaded this project and all those members who contributed their time. The residents are most appreciative of the beautification where they live.

January 31, 2023 Work Day at the Presbyterian Church in preparation for Arbor Day
Thanks to a great group of members who showed up to work at the First Presbyterian Church grounds. We had a lot of fun and the church looks so much better, especially the patio. We planted a Red Bud Tree in honor of Frances Smith, one of our members who passed away in 2022. Frances taught many of us flower arranging and was for many years head of the Arbor Day festivities here in Saint Marys. She was a member of the Saint Marys Tree Board as well. We will be celebrating her at an Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, February 17, 2023 with the planting of a Redbud tree.
